To You My Friend
My days had seemed forever and nothing was going right
And life became a vicious struggle in a never ending fight
Fate had cast an evil spell on all my precious dreams
Enemies lurked in every corner with all their wicked schemes
When it seemed no longer I could take the pain and grief
A friend entered my heart and gave me warmth and relief
It seemed impossible to find someone so kind and true
In a person I had just discovered, yet felt I once knew
With every word, you have comforted me, warm as a gentle smile
And like a new found drug, have eased my pain awhile
I have searched my mind and heart for a clue to your mysterious charms
And can't wait for the day to tell you by holding you in my arms
However, if the day never comes when we truly meet
I would not feel alone nor the pains of defeat
For I have found a priceless jewel in my sea of blue
That is my happiness, I have found in my knowing you.
John has written several poems which are only part of his great repertoire and artistry. Pay attention to the powerful message these words convey. This poem is a stop sign so take note of your surroundings and the lives you may affect along the way. Ask yourself, "Have I made a difference in someone's life?" Even if you may never know the answer, life certainly does and echoes in its own way back to you. When this happens all involved partake in life's celebration and happiness! Our claim to happiness can only be ours when we desire to witness it in someone else.
If you enjoy poetry you will also enjoy knowing your poet. John has greatly contributed to the Arts which is already making a difference in the lives of others. Here, we learn from his own words:
I am a Promoter/Publicist for Boston and Las Vegas Artists. My writing skills, along with poetry (my greatest inspiration is my mother who also writes poetry and is now 84 years old), include Media Kits/Liner Notes for CDs etc. My experience in music goes back to the 60's:
I formed a group in EBHS called "The Echoes". I was a lead singer from '65-'67. In '68 I started managing groups: "Buttermilk Blues Band", "Cedar Street Blues Band", "Steve Tello & The Echoes" etc. I was a manager of radio personalities: "Joe Martelle Wror", "Sunny Joe White", and "Vinny Peruzzi". I also managed Night Clubs: "Rock Palace" in Lowell, MA., "Jacquelines", Best Western Hotel, Danvers, MA., "Dancin" in Beantown, and "Wonderland Ballroom" in Revere. I organized shows all over New England, then in 1978 started "Tumbling Dice".
30 years later, Here's Johnny!!!
